Free competitor analysis

A free competitor analysis here means your pages next to three addresses you enter. Not an agency market report, and not a comparison of revenue. We fetch the sites and put the scores side by side. A score only when the page actually came back.

Who to enter as the three competitors

Choose companies that take the same kind of work off the same buyer's hands, in the same region. The biggest name in the world is often not a competitor of an SME.

Use addresses of real sites. We cannot fetch a name that has no site.

If you do not know the neighbours, start with the three who were in the last proposal you lost.

What you compare, and what you do not

You see your place as soon as the pages are back. The names, the numbers and the evidence come after your email.

We compare what is on the pages: how clear the offer is, whether there is a path to contact, and what a pricing page does or does not say. We do not read the accounts.

A page that does not load does not get an invented score.

How to read the differences

Look at where a neighbour says, on one screen, what they sell and for whom, and where you postpone that to a subpage.

Look for a pricing page. Price on request can be a choice. No path to a conversation at all is a gap.

Comparing does not change your site yet. It points at the page where the first hour should go.

A study that is often quoted for the wrong thing

Hunt Allcott published on households who saw their energy use next to similar neighbours. Use fell by 2 percent on average, and by 6.3 percent among the heaviest users, in a study of about 600,000 households. That was about electricity, not websites.

We mention it because comparison with neighbours is a known effect, and because our tool page already cites that study. It is not proof that your site will then get more enquiries. We do not measure that number.

Questions about a free competitor analysis

Is this competitor analysis free?

Yes. You see your place without paying. The names, the numbers and the evidence come after your email.

How many competitors can I enter?

Up to three, next to your own site. Fewer is fine. We skip an empty field.

Do you compare revenue or ad spend?

No. Only pages we could fetch. No revenue, no ad account and no invented market share.

What if a competitor blocks the site?

Then there is no score for that site. We do not fill the gap with an estimate.

What is a sensible next step?

A free website roast if your own pages stay vague, or the ChatGPT check if you want to see who a model names. For work that continues every week, read the guide to a growth partner for SMEs.
